Introduction to Performing Arts
Evolution and history of performing arts and their function in society. Psychological, social and spiritual benefits of cultural enrichment through the arts. Performing arts as the ultimate form of human expression. Range of performing arts, including performers, directors, producers, set and costume designers, and stage managers.
Drama Production Techniques
Understanding the function of presentation of human drama as an exploration into the challenges facing the human soul. Relationships between script, production techniques, and final product's effectiveness in communicating to the audience.
Research Methods & Information Technology
(Euro U Core Skills Course) Students will apply the methods and technology to research topics relevant to the performing arts. Understanding research as a tool for improving performing arts productions, and broadening the range of potential of the artists.
Professional Sound Projection
Develop hands-on experience with sound projection techniques and equipment. Recognizing importance of transmitting sounds clearly to the audience. Learning to avoid sound overload and muffling of the speaker's or soloist's presentation. Using sound effects and music to create mood, and expectation.
Scriptwriting
Develop creative writing for performing arts. Understanding the role of narrative and styles of communication. Monologues and dialogues. Inclusion of set requirements, body language and physical movement instructions in script. Modification of script in pre-production and rehearsal stages for adaptation to talents of performers and suitability for the audience.
History of Performing Arts
Explores the role of performing arts from pre-historic times to present. Anthropological analysis of Importance of dance, music and drama in human life. Utilization of performing arts in rituals of passage and times of challenge, such as drought, famine and war. Morality plays. Performing Arts in Ancient Greece, Islamic countries. Developments of renaissance and humanism. Modern performing arts and their adaptation to cultures.
Modern Comedy with Acting
Survey of modern examples of comedy, both South Asian and Western. Developing comedic presentation styles. Types of comedy. Writing short humorous scripts and performing to groups. Using research for humor, and learning to adapt to audience, culture and circumstance. Interaction with audience.
Live Theatre Actor's Studio
Students will select, and produce a performance, utilizing the skills and talents of the group, and inviting students from Bachelor level studies to participate. Cooperative teamwork will be emphasized.
Survey of Music with Studio
Students will be exposed to a wide range of music forms and styles, and will develop appreciation for music both as the center piece and as background for other performances. Musicians, singers and dancers will display their skills, while others will engage in activities of direction, production, and promotion strategies.

TV and Video
Importance of filming performing arts. Develop knowledge of TV and video processes and equipment. Development of performance skills suitable to the requirements of camera. Working on both sides of the camera.
Computers and Film Production
Develop acquaintance with computer techniques and software utilized for TV and film production. Utilize a range of techniques to accomplish special effects, editing, and enhancement of performing arts project.
Marketing and Advertising Campaign (See Business)
Students will acquire understanding and skills for effectively marketing the performing arts product. Identify target audience for market, and focus campaign effectively to generate their interest and demand. Basic marketing, advertising, and public relations skills will be explored.
Costume Design
Explores the importance of costume for the performing arts. Research methods for expanding range of possibilities. Creative interpretation of the music, dance or theatre theme in order to enhance overall dramatic effect of the end performance. Suitability for audience and cultural requirements.
Survey of Dance with Studio
Exploration of a wide range of classical, folk and contemporary dance forms. Selection of dance form to enhance other presentations. Students with dance, music and acting skills will engage in dance performance, while other students will participate in stage management, production, direction, lighting, camerawork, and publicity activities.
Directing Performing Arts
Comprehensive study of the role of the director. Survey of work of famous directors and choreographers. Students will view films with critical eye of analysis of the direction. Students will be given opportunities to direct each other in various types of performance. Skills will be utilized in honors project.
Honors Project
East Meets West - Performing Arts Honors Project will be a group participation project produce a final production to be presented to Euro U students and the general public. Major roles and functions will be performed by Senior Master's Students, but other students may be invited to participate.
